Boom
It is hard to beat the elevated harbourside position of Boom at Gunpowder Suites for a scenic venue to enjoy a delicious lunch or while away the day. Building on the success of their Pillars restaurant at historic Admiral’s Inn located directly across the harbour, the owners of Boom have created a wonderful upscale setting to enjoy a delicious lunch.
The vast outdoor terrace and headland boast a stunning infinity-edged pool where you may bask on luxurious sun-beds overlooking spectacular Nelson’s Dockyard, a UNESCO World Heritage site. If you are interested in being pampered excellent massages and treatments are available at the on-site Powder Room Spa.
This unique restaurant is set in front of a remodeled 18th century Gunpowder store which houses art exhibitions and boasts four spectacular deluxe suites. An additional eight suites are sprinkled around the 2 acre headland.
Boom’s menu highlights a fresh and healthy approach with seafood favorites such as Catch of the Day and Lobster Salad but meat lovers will not be disappointed by the Truffle Aioli Steak Sandwich and Jerk Baby Back Ribs. The truffle parmesan fries and Thai Shrimp Cake salad are also guest favourites along with the excellent cocktails.
Use of the pool and sun-beds are subject to a minimum spend for outside guests who are lunching or subject to a fee if you just want to enjoy the view, lounge and swim. Reservations are strongly recommended.
While you can drive straight to Boom guests very much enjoy taking the complimentary boat trip from Admirals Inn across to Boom.
Opening Hours: Daily 11:00am-6:00pm for cocktails with lunch served from noon to 4pm.
Pillars
Set within the timeworn walls of the 18th century Nelson’s Dockyard, a World Heritage site, at the lovingly restored Admiral’s Inn, Pillars restaurant is not to be missed. The Pillars Restaurant is also available to host private events and weddings.
